Why Bookbinding Will Never Go Out Of Fashion

In recent times, more and more products, services and solutions are being made available in digital form. This may be more cost-effective or simply deemed to be 'trendy,' but it doesn't mean that the conventional alternative is no longer as popular. While documents, for example, may be increasingly reduced to a PDF file or the equivalent and emailed to a recipient instead, this is not the perfect approach at all times. Instead, many people will opt for a hard copy of the product in question and will always want to ensure that this document is well made and well presented. In this case, they'll want to ensure that it is bound as well and can choose from a number of different methods.

Binding for All Occasions

At one end of the scale, they could choose spiral binding. Here, holes are punched onto the side of each page and then a wire or plastic coil is fed through to hold everything together nicely. This is typically chosen for a more informal publication or a report that will be circulated internally.

For something a bit more formal, saddle stitch binding is preferred. In this case, the book will be printed so that four pages are included on both sides of one large sheet, which is then folded, creased and stapled together. It's one of the easiest ways to bind a book but is typically chosen for something which is rather less important.

Alternatively, you could choose a method that is typically employed with paperback books. In this case, the individual pages are printed and then glued to a separate spine. The spine is then glued, in turn, to the outer cover but this approach is mostly recommended for smaller documents, as there may be a tendency for individual pages to come loose.

For best effect, choose to sew each page or pair of pages together using a specific technique and then glue everything into the spine of the book for the appropriate level of support. This approach is typically taken for more expensive productions and can certainly make a good impression for your readers.

Books Forever

Remember, even though the digital world appears to be getting larger every day, there will still be plenty of room for the traditional, printed and bound book. Determine what you want to achieve, set your budget and then talk with bookbinding professional, to see what they recommend in your case.

About Me

How a Printing Service Can Help Your Business

Hello! My name is Simon and I am a small business owner from Perth, Australia. When I first started my business, I didn't consider using a printing service. However, having been open for business for a couple of months, I noticed that I wasn't attracting the crowds of customers I imagined I would. My friend suggested that I contact a printing service and ask them to produce some promotion material which I could hand out to people passing in the street. The printing service were great and explained the entire process to me. The leaflets worked and my business is now doing really well.
